As the birds return from their winter vacation in the South, Frog and Toad, who are still hibernating, dream of their friendship and the happy times they willhave in the coming year. Frog manages to convince Toad that spring has arrived, and the impatient Toad tries to persuade some newly-planted seeds to grow in record time.
Then, Frog discovers that Toad never gets mail, writes him a letter, and asks Snail to deliver it.
When summer comes, the two friends go to the pond for a swim. Toad is so worried about the way he looks in his bathing suit that he stays in the water until he cannot stand the cold anymore. When they see him, all the nearby animals have to agree that Toad, in a bathing suit, is a comical sight.
Later, Toad worries that Frog, who is spending the day on an island, is sad. He makes quite an effort to cheer him up but discovers that his friend needs some “alone time” to enjoy his happy thoughts.
Meanwhile, Snail continues on his mission to deliver the letter.
As the year progresses, the two best friends eat too many cookies, fly kites, rake each other’s leaves, and shiver at a scary story. By winter, they try sledding, with a disastrous result. Fortunately, Snail delivers his first letter, feels proud, and smoothes the bumpy road of friendship for Frog and Toad. After a special Christmas Eve, the old friends settle down to dream their dreams and wait for spring.

Through the year, in happy and sad times, Frog and Toad accept their differences and show the special care that best friends have for each other. Most of all, they know that most of the time, life is a lot more fun with a best friend.

Contract agreement:
1)  The play will be an extra-curricular activity, so no one will receive a credit or a grade.   The cast will include between 15 and 20 people.   If a student does not fulfill the requirements below, he / she will no longer be a part of the cast.  The play was first produced with 5 performers; parts can be doubled. The time to put together a major Broadway musical is short, so the demands on the cast & crew are very strict with no room for exceptions.
2) Rehearsals – all cast & crew members must be available for rehearsals after school each day from 3:00-5:00.  The only excused absences will be for school activities. Doctor’s excuses or excuses based on illness will be accepted ONLY if the intended absence is reported before lunch on the day you will have to miss.  NO EXCUSES AFTER YOU MISS rehearsal will be accepted.  You may call the Eng. dept. (984-5993) and leave a message for Mrs. Hargrave.   Excused will not be accepted for doctor appointments unless they are submitted at least 1 week in advance.2 unexcused absence = you will be dismissed from the cast    You must be available for rehearsal during the Mardi Gras holidays, Feb. 15 – 19 – no exceptions. If you are going on vacation or skiing, don’t try out.    Some evening and weekend rehearsals will be called.   You will be expected to rehearse during the entire weekend prior to the opening of the show.  Sat. & Sun., April 17 & 18.
3)  Since parts are limited and a strong responsibility required, your attendance and discipline records will be checked prior to casting.
4)  Professional behavior is expected at all times.  School rules apply during rehearsals. 5)  Fund raising – each performer and crew member will be required to sell $200 worth of ads for the program.   Deadline is tentatively Feb. 12th – the Friday before the Mardi Gras holidays.    Each student will be required to furnish his/her own costume – we will probably rent the costumes as we have in previous years.  If we rent costumes, the costume fee is $50, and you may include this fee in your ad sales.
I have read and understand the requirements as well as the need for strict adherence to these rules:     Please write legibly or print your name under the signature
